Anagani Satya Prasad, the Andhra Pradesh Minister for Revenue, Registration and Stamps, has launched a pointed criticism against former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Speaking to the media on August 6, the minister alleged that Jagan’s recent visit to Devurapalli is an attempt to stage “political drama” rather than address pressing public concerns.

Satya Prasad contended that these visits have historically caused inconvenience to local residents. He expressed concerns that families in Devurapalli would similarly face disruptions during this latest trip, as had happened during past visits by Jagan. This criticism adds another layer to the ongoing political rivalry between the ruling Telugu Desam Party-led NDA government and the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

The minister’s comments were made in the context of a media briefing that focused on a meeting related to the proposed Backward Classes (BC) Bill. Satya Prasad asserted that the impending legislation represents a significant commitment by the NDA alliance as it prepares for the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.

Government’s Commitment to Backward Classes

During his address, Satya Prasad highlighted the government’s dedication to fulfilling its promises to the Backward Classes. He described the proposed BC Bill as an essential advancement aimed at ensuring the welfare and empowerment of this demographic. He stated that the current government is focused on implementing measures that align with its commitments made during previous electoral campaigns.

In addition to discussing the BC Bill, Satya Prasad reiterated the administration’s support for tobacco farmers, asserting that the government has consistently advocated for their interests. He mentioned that assistance had been provided to tobacco cultivators in the previous year and expressed a commitment to continue supporting this sector in the future.

The political atmosphere continues to be tense as both the ruling coalition and the opposition exchange severe criticisms over governance issues. Amidst this backdrop, Jagan Mohan Reddy has undertaken extensive tours across various districts to engage with citizens and shed light on prevailing problems in the state.
