A significant fire erupted late on the night of August 5 at a car service centre located behind the PG Women’s College in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The incident was reported at approximately 10 PM, leading to an immediate response from local fire brigade and police units. Firefighters worked diligently to control the flames, employing a total of 12 fire tenders during operations that continued through the night.

Upon receiving the alert, the fire brigade dispatched two fire tenders right away. However, due to the intense nature of the blaze, additional resources were called upon, culminating in the deployment of twelve fire engines. Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control after considerable effort.

Officials noted that most employees had left for the day prior to the incident, which reportedly started from a suspected short circuit that ignited flammable materials stored on-site. Jalaj Ghasia, a fire officer at the scene, indicated that the presence of various repair materials contributed to the rapid escalation of the fire.

Casualties and Damage Assessment Underway

According to fire department reports, over 50 vehicles were inside the service centre when the fire broke out, with many vehicles reportedly impacted by the flames. The precise number of vehicles damaged is currently under assessment, as teams are still evaluating the extent of the destruction.

No casualties were reported as a result of the fire, which allowed emergency personnel to focus on controlling the blaze and ensuring the safety of all present. Police units also arrived swiftly, managing the crowd and ensuring onlookers maintained a safe distance from the site.

The fire has now been fully contained, and a thorough investigation is underway to determine the actual cause of the incident. Officials at the service centre are cooperating with investigators to provide the necessary information regarding the situation.

Previous Fire Incidents in the Region

This incident follows several other fire occurrences in Rajasthan over recent months. In one notable case, a school van carrying approximately ten children caught fire in Jhunjhunu district in June. Fortunately, the driver acted quickly, managing to evacuate all children safely before the flames spread.

The vehicle was reportedly transporting children from the Copper area to Singhana when the fire broke out near Kanchania ki Dhani. Local officials praised the driver’s prompt action, which ensured that all children escaped uninjured. The fire engulfed the van shortly after the evacuation, but community members assisted in controlling the situation.

Another incident occurred on June 9 in Jaipur’s Kho Nagoriyan area, where three people died in a fire at an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit. The situation deemed severe as five additional individuals sustained injuries and required medical attention. The local administration has been investigating the conditions and materials present at the site, highlighting the dangers of unregulated operations within residential areas.

Jaipur officials, including Additional District Magistrate Yugantar Sharma, noted that the fire’s cause was linked to materials stored improperly, including a gas cylinder that ignited. Investigations continue into both the Jodhpur fire and previous incidents to ensure community safety and prevent future occurrences.
