Allegations Arise Against Jail Officials and Police in Jagan Gurjar’s Murder

The CSR Journal Magazine

The brother of the notorious dacoit Jagan Gurjar has made serious allegations against several jail officials and police personnel, asserting that his brother’s death was a result of a premeditated conspiracy. Pappu Gurjar contends that the official narrative, which claims Jagan was killed by his cellmate, is misleading. He insists that multiple individuals, including the jailer, deputy jailer, police officers, inmates, and a medical professional, were allegedly complicit in the incident.

Pappu Gurjar, who was incarcerated in the same high-security facility in Ajmer, stated that his brother was allegedly given sedative pills prior to being asphyxiated. According to him, there were also attempts to disguise the murder as a suicide after the act was committed. These claims were made during his attendance at Jagan’s cremation in Dholpur district, Rajasthan, on July 3, 2026.

Following a post-mortem examination conducted on July 2, 2026, Jagan’s body was transported from Ajmer for the funeral. Asaram, Jagan’s son, corroborated Pappu’s assertions, disclosing that both brothers were housed in the same barracks at the Ajmer jail but had been separated just a day before Jagan’s death.

Family Calls for Investigation and Heightened Security

The family has demanded that Pappu be transferred from Ajmer jail for safety reasons, as they fear for their security following Jagan’s death. They have also requested an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Asaram warned that the family would initiate protests if their requests were not addressed expeditiously.

According to Pappu, attempts to stage a hanging as cause of death failed when the body was discovered. He claims that superficial injuries were subsequently inflicted to mislead forensic investigators, further complicating the narrative surrounding Jagan Gurjar’s passing.

Police officials have reported that Jagan Gurjar, who was 52 years old at the time of his death, was involved in over 100 criminal cases throughout his life. His death is attributed to fellow inmate Vishnu, who allegedly used a towel to strangle Jagan. Officials have asserted that both individuals were categorised as hardcore prisoners.

Large Turnout at Cremation and Security Measures Implemented

Thousands of mourners attended Jagan Gurjar’s funeral, with crowds gathering not only from Dholpur but also from nearby districts and even Haryana. The attendance included hundreds of women, highlighting the significant impact Jagan had in his community.

To ensure order during the funeral, a large contingent of security forces was mobilised. Personnel from various police stations, along with members of the Special Task Force (STF) and the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC), were present to maintain peace and security throughout the event. Senior police officials oversaw the operations to manage the large crowd.

In addition to Pappu, two of Jagan’s brothers, Pan Singh and Lal Singh, were brought to the cremation under police custody from different correctional facilities. This further underscores the family’s notable presence during the proceedings, indicating the magnitude of the event amidst the ongoing investigation into Jagan’s untimely death.
