A tempo traveller carrying about 20 tourists fell into a gorge near Lakshmi Khan in the Malla Ramgarh area of Nainital district, resulting in multiple injuries. The incident occurred on August 14, 2026, and has drawn attention from local authorities and emergency services. Officials confirmed that rescue operations began promptly following the accident.

Rescue Operations Underway

Immediately after receiving reports of the accident, police teams from Ramgarh and Bhawali arrived at the scene to assist in the rescue. Just days before the tempo traveller accident, another incident occurred on the Bhowali-Ramgarh road, where a car skidded off the route and fell approximately 50 metres into a gorge. In this case, two individuals were reported injured. They were trapped inside the vehicle, prompting an SDRF-led rescue operation.

The SDRF team, led by Sub-Inspector Manish Bhakuni, was dispatched quickly after the Nainital District Disaster Control Room received the alert. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle lying nearly 50 metres from the road, and the occupants, identified as Kharesh Duggal and Ritu Duggal from Noida, were extracted safely. Both individuals sustained minor injuries and were subsequently given first aid before being taken to Bhowali Hospital for further treatment.

Moreover, earlier this week, another serious accident occurred in Rudraprayag district, where a truck plunged nearly 100 metres into a gorge on the Tarsali-Phata road. This incident resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals and summoned a joint rescue effort involving the SDRF, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), district police, and fire services.
