24-Year-Old Woman Dies by Suicide, Blames In-Laws for Harassment

The CSR Journal Magazine

A tragic incident has come to light in Delhi’s Nangloi area, where a 24-year-old woman reportedly took her own life. Police confirmed that the woman, identified as Tina, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan at her in-laws’ home on the afternoon of June 23, 2026. Prior to this, she recorded a video detailing her distressing experiences and allegations against her in-laws.

The police investigation began after they received information regarding the incident. They found a video on Tina’s mobile phone, lasting over three minutes. In this video, she expressed her grievances, making a heartfelt appeal to her parents regarding the well-being of her young daughter, Mona, aged one-and-a-half years. She requested her parents to ensure that the child would not be handed over to anyone else, stating clearly, “Please take care of Mona. Don’t give Mona to anyone.”

Authorities revealed that statements from family members were recorded by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate as part of the procedure required in cases of married women’s deaths under suspicious circumstances. Following this, a case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway.

Allegations of Harassment by In-Laws

In her video, Tina articulated her feelings of being mistreated by her husband’s family, alleging they had not accepted her throughout her marriage, which lasted approximately two and a half years. She claimed that the familial support she hoped for was absent, stating, “If they could not stand by their own son, how would they ever stand by me or my child?” This highlights the emotional turmoil she experienced in her domestic environment.

Tina refuted claims that she had mistreated her in-laws or engaged in black magic, asserting, “I was the one who was beaten.” She insisted her intentions were solely to build a loving family and expressed despair regarding her current situation, indicating a sense of hopelessness about the future.

In her message, Tina described her husband in a negative light and articulated a strong desire to separate from him, indicating, “I cannot live with this mad man anymore.” This reflects her state of distress and the perceived urgency to escape her circumstances.

Ongoing Investigation and Legal Procedures

Following the discovery of the incident, police initiated a thorough investigation, which includes scrutinising the video evidence and conducting interviews with family members to verify the claims made by the deceased. The authorities are committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding Tina’s death.

Tina’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination as part of standard protocol in such cases. Investigators aim to gather comprehensive evidence before deciding on the next steps in the legal proceedings. The police have confirmed that further action will be taken depending on the findings of the investigation.

This incident has drawn attention to the serious issues of domestic distress and harassment faced by individuals within marital relationships. The circumstances surrounding Tina’s death underscore the importance of addressing such problems to prevent future tragedies.
