Wife of Deceased Indian Seafarer Alleges Foul Play in Venezuela

The CSR Journal Magazine

The wife of Rakesh Chauhan, an Indian sailor who reportedly died in Venezuela, has made serious allegations regarding the circumstances of his death. Ranjana Chauhan voiced her concerns in an interview, claiming that her husband was murdered and that his organs were removed. She expressed frustration over the lack of communication and assistance from the shipping company, stating that their representatives were dismissive of her family’s plight.

Ranjana detailed that despite multiple requests, the company failed to provide a proper report regarding her husband’s demise. She further asserted that they have not received any of his personal belongings. “We were just expecting the body to arrive. When we had a second post-mortem done here, the report revealed that not a single organ remained in the body,” she commented, highlighting the shocking nature of the findings.

The timeline of events appears grim, with Ranjana recounting that she last spoke to her husband on 6 May. Shortly after this conversation, her father-in-law received a call informing him that Rakesh had been involved in an accident and was being taken to the hospital.

Peculiarities in Post-Mortem Findings

The Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI) has supported Ranjana’s claims, stating that according to the official post-mortem report conducted in India, Rakesh’s body was missing all vital organs, including the brain, heart, both lungs, kidneys, liver, spleen, pancreas, stomach, intestines, thyroid, hyoid, larynx, and trachea. This alarming revelation has raised serious questions regarding the handling of the case.

The FSUI has demanded that the Indian Embassy in Venezuela and the Ministry of External Affairs in India take urgent action. They are seeking clarification on multiple irregularities related to Rakesh’s death, particularly why all vital organs were reportedly removed.

Furthermore, there have been concerns raised about the authenticity of the documentation regarding Rakesh’s mortal remains. Allegations have surfaced that the receipt for the remains was allegedly forged, with the name signed as “Anjana Chauraisya” instead of his wife, Ranjana Chaurasiya. This discrepancy has added another layer of complexity to an already distressing situation.

Continued Demands for Justice

The family of Rakesh Chauhan has been vocal about their demands for a comprehensive autopsy report that could shed light on the disturbing issues surrounding his case. They have submitted complaints to various authorities, including the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi, but so far, their pleas have not resulted in satisfactory outcomes.

The FSUI has called upon the relevant authorities to address the significant questions raised by Rakesh’s death, emphasising the importance of transparency and accountability in such distressing circumstances. The family continues to seek answers, amidst a backdrop of fear and uncertainty regarding the handling of Rakesh’s body and the wider implications of his death.

As this case unfolds, the union and Ranjana maintain hope for a resolution that brings clarity and justice for Rakesh Chauhan, an incident that has shocked many within the Indian maritime community.
