Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth Emphasises National Integrity on Independence Day

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand, Deepam Seth, commemorated Independence Day by hoisting the national flag in Dehradun. During the event, he called upon all citizens to “protect the integrity of the nation.” Following the flag hoisting, a symbolic oath of national unity was administered to attendees at the Police Headquarters.

Deepam Seth also took the opportunity to celebrate the contributions of police officers by presenting various commendations, including the Director General of Police Commendation Disc ‘Gold’, DGP Commendation Disc ‘Silver’, and DGP Commendation Certificates to selected individuals. This recognition underscored the commitment and professionalism exhibited by law enforcement personnel.

Honouring Freedom Fighters and Upholding Democratic Values

In his address to the gathered crowd, DGP Seth highlighted the significance of Independence Day as a moment to honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters and martyrs. He emphasised that it is a collective duty of all citizens to uphold national unity, constitutional integrity, and democratic values. He acknowledged the vital role that police personnel play in fulfilling this responsibility.

Deepam Seth expressed pride in the Uttarakhand Police’s professional competence, especially in challenging situations such as security arrangements during the Prime Minister’s roadshow and the successful organisation of the five-day Nyaya Sanhita exhibition attended by the Union Home Minister. He attributed these achievements to the effective discharge of duties by the police force.

Moreover, the DGP noted the successful management of security during significant events like the Char Dham Yatra and the Kanwar Mela. He commended the police for ensuring the safety and effective traffic arrangements for millions of devotees while maintaining a balance between security and public service.

Achievements and Recognition of Uttarakhand Police

Deepam Seth further reported on the accolades received by the Uttarakhand Police in cybercrime management, highlighting its ranking among the top five states in India during the ‘Pragati’ review meeting. The police were also honoured with the Institutional Performance Award for excellence in passport verification by the Government of India. Additionally, the force received appreciation for its rescue efforts at the Silkyara Tunnel and Dharali-Harsil at the BRICS Summit.

He acknowledged the accomplishments of Uttarakhand Police athletes who have excelled at both national and international sporting events. Seth noted that over the last year, more than 950 officers and personnel received timely promotions as part of welfare and motivation initiatives aimed at enhancing employee morale.

Deepam Seth praised the ‘unsung heroes’ of the police force, including personnel on barricades, female officers serving away from family, drivers, traffic staff, wireless operators, and cyber experts, all of whom contribute to the organisation’s success. He affirmed that their unwavering discipline and dedication form the backbone of Uttarakhand Police.

Concluding his speech, Seth expressed confidence that police personnel will maintain their commitment to serve the citizens of Uttarakhand with dedication and courage, while continuing to strengthen peace, security, and law and order throughout the state.
