The Telangana education department has mandated that all private unaided schools display their class-wise fee structures for the academic year 2026-27 on their notice boards and official websites. This directive aims to promote transparency regarding the fees charged by these institutions.

E Naveen Nicolas, the state director of school education, has communicated that enforcement of this requirement will involve school officials ensuring compliance within their jurisdictions. The fee details must also be uploaded to the education department’s online portal, accessible at schooledu.telangana.gov.in, alongside the display on school premises.

The measures are part of a broader initiative to standardise fee disclosures across the private education sector in the state, thereby allowing parents and guardians to make informed choices.

Supporting Documentation Required from Schools

In line with the fee structure disclosure, the education department has instructed schools to upload supporting documents that validate the fee amounts set for each class for the upcoming academic year. According to the requirements stipulated in a 1994 government order, these documents must be endorsed with the signatures of the members of the school’s governing body.

The Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational Officers have been assigned the responsibility of monitoring adherence to these regulations. This aims to ensure consistency and accountability among private unaided schools, which are often scrutinised for fee practices.

Nicolas indicated that a specific feature has been established on the education department’s portal to facilitate the uploading of fee structures and corresponding documentation. This development is designed to streamline the process for schools and enhance accessibility for the public.

The education department has conveyed that show-cause notices will be issued to institutions that fail to comply with the requirement of displaying their fee structures on notice boards and websites. These measures underline the department’s commitment to enforcing the new disclosure regulations.
