TCS Directs Employees in Nashik to Work from Home Amid Safety Concerns

The CSR Journal Magazine

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has instructed its employees at the Nashik location to work from home as a safety precaution. This decision was announced on April 16, amid serious allegations concerning religious conversion and harassment at the facility. Sources have confirmed that the directive aims to prioritise the convenience and security of employees during this tumultuous period.

The move has been prompted by ongoing investigations into allegations of sexual harassment and coerced religious conversion, which have surfaced at the Nashik office. The swift response by TCS reflects an effort to protect employees while legal proceedings unfold.

Protests Erupt Over Allegations at TCS Facility

BJP MLA Devayani Farande joined the protests, making severe accusations regarding the treatment of Hindu women and the alleged actions perpetrated by individuals associated with TCS. She called for legal action against those responsible, including revocation of nationality and severe penalties for the accused. Her statements underscored the intense public sentiment surrounding the incidents.

Reports suggest that the police investigation has identified a pattern of neglect concerning complaints made by victims. The Human Resources Manager, Nida Khan, has been accused of being complicit in suppressing the allegations, allegedly discouraging victims from pursuing their cases.

Ongoing Investigation by Authorities

In the course of the investigation, police officials have reportedly unearthed around 78 ‘suspicious’ phone records, emails, and messages that connect the accused individuals. Evidence of potential financial transactions has also been discovered, shedding light on the serious misconduct alleged within the organisation.

Moreover, Ashwini Chainani, the Operations Manager of TCS, has recently been presented in court and has been placed in 14 days of judicial custody as the investigation continues. TCS Chairman N Chandrasekaran has emphasised the company’s commitment to addressing these allegations with the utmost seriousness.

Chandrasekaran’s statement indicated that the Tata Group maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding coercive behaviour and misconduct. He has assured that the company is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigations aimed at clarifying the facts and identifying all individuals involved.
