SP Women’s Wing Leader Assaulted at Home Over Property Dispute in UP

The CSR Journal Magazine

A leader of the Samajwadi Party’s women’s wing, Gargi Patel, was reportedly attacked inside her home in Madiya village, located in Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against five individuals, including relatives of a former block pramukh. The incident was captured on CCTV, prompting a thorough police investigation into the factors leading to the violent altercation.

Background of the Dispute

According to police reports and the victim’s statements, the confrontation stemmed from a meeting between Gargi Patel and former block pramukh Pyarelal Yadav, who was visiting her for discussions concerning a property venture they were allegedly involved in together. The situation escalated when Yadav’s wife, son, and daughter reportedly arrived at the residence, leading to a disagreement between the two families.

CCTV footage has surfaced, showing two women and two young men attacking Gargi Patel, while an older male figure appears to try to intervene in the situation. The details surrounding the incident suggest a swift escalation from a verbal dispute to physical combat, raising questions about the underlying motivations for the attack.

Gargi Patel claims that the assailants initially entered her home and began to assault her children. She reported that when she intervened, she was subjected to physical violence, including being struck with various objects such as a study table and an iron rod. Patel indicated that the dispute might relate to financial matters stemming from their business partnership.

Police Response and Ongoing Investigation

After the altercation, Gargi Patel’s daughter reportedly contacted law enforcement. A police team promptly arrived at the scene and transported the injured leader to the district hospital, where she is currently receiving medical attention. Additional Superintendent of Police Anant Chandra Shekhar confirmed the registration of the FIR shortly after receiving the complaint.

“The victim has informed us that there was an ongoing business-related dispute between the parties involved,” Anant Chandra Shekhar stated. He noted that five individuals are named in the FIR and assured that every aspect of the case is being thoroughly examined. Authorities are currently evaluating the CCTV footage along with other evidence to clarify the sequence of events that took place during the incident.

Further efforts are underway to establish the motives behind the altercation and to secure the testimonies of all involved parties. The police are striving to uphold public safety and ensure that justice is served in this troubling case.
