The CSR Journal Magazine

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat will engage with members of Gen Z in Nagpur on August 15, as part of a larger initiative focused on democracy and constitutional values. This interaction will be hosted at Kasturchand Park, coinciding with the celebrations of Independence Day. Bhagwat is scheduled to inaugurate a newly erected 200-foot flag mast by hoisting the national flag at 8 am on that day.

Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, Bhagwat will partake in a dialogue with the younger attendees regarding their role in shaping the future of India. The programme aims to create a space for direct engagement, allowing participants to voice their concerns and aspirations in relation to the nation’s democratic framework.

This event is designed not just as a celebration but as a platform to foster discussions about how the youth can actively contribute to nation-building. Themes of youth involvement and responsibility will be central to the proceedings.

Organisers and Attendees

The Nagpur event is being co-organised by Lokmat and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), with significant involvement from local dignitaries, including Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Nagpur Mayor Neeta Thakre, and Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Itankar. Their participation underscores the importance of this initiative at both community and state levels.

Dr Vijay Darda, Chairman of the Lokmat Editorial Board and a former member of the Rajya Sabha, has been instrumental in conceptualising this initiative. The collaboration seeks to ensure a comprehensive approach to engaging youth, inviting their perspectives on issues pertinent to the nation’s governance and future.

This initiative follows a similar interaction held by Bhagwat in Mumbai on August 6, aiming to connect with young individuals and establish a consistent dialogue. The Nagpur programme not only reinforces this continuity but also highlights its significance, given the RSS’s origins in the city.

Youth Participation and Engagement Goals

The organisers are expecting considerable participation from young individuals in Nagpur, reflecting the programme’s intent to include diverse voices and experiences. The event will not only provide a platform for airing views but will also engage attendees in meaningful discussions with Bhagwat about their vision for India’s development.

Key topics on the agenda will include democracy, the role of constitutional values, and the potential impact of youth engagement in national matters. The programme seeks to empower young citizens, aligning their aspirations with the broader objectives of nation-building.

As the event unfolds against the backdrop of Independence Day, it is anticipated to amplify the significance of the younger generation in the socio-political landscape of the country. The varied perspectives shared during the interaction will be crucial to understanding how Gen Z envisions their role and responsibilities in shaping the future of India.
