The CSR Journal Magazine

PM Modi will undertake a multi-leg visit to France and Slovakia between June 13 and 18, aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships, boosting innovation ties and participating in the G7 Summit, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Tuesday.

The visit will include stops in Nice, Evian and Paris in France, along with a state visit to Slovakia. During the trip, PM Modi will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, attend key international forums and engage with the Indian diaspora.

PM Modi To Hold Talks With Macron In Nice

The first leg of the visit will see PM Modi travel to Nice on June 13-14 at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders are expected to review the entire spectrum of India-France relations, which were elevated earlier this year to a Special Global Strategic Partnership.

In Nice, PM Modi and Macron will jointly inaugurate the “Bharat Innovates” event, a platform bringing together startups and venture capital funds from India, France and other countries. Organised as part of the India-France Year of Innovation, the initiative seeks to deepen cooperation in innovation and emerging technologies.

The Prime Minister’s engagements in France are expected to underscore the growing strategic and economic partnership between the two countries.

Historic Slovakia Visit To Deepen Bilateral Ties

From June 14 to 16, PM Modi will undertake a state visit to Slovakia at the invitation of Prime Minister Robert Fico. It will mark the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country gained independence in 1993.

The visit follows a series of high-level exchanges, including President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Slovakia in April 2025 and Slovak President Peter Pellegrini’s trip to India for the AI Impact Summit earlier this year.

During his stay, PM Modi will hold talks with Prime Minister Fico and meet President Pellegrini. Discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in sectors such as trade, investment, automobile manufacturing and railway infrastructure.

According to the MEA, the visit will reaffirm India’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Central European nation and exploring new avenues of collaboration.

G7 Summit And VivaTech To Highlight India’s Innovation Push

In the third leg of the tour, PM Modi will participate in the G7 Summit in Evian, France, on June 16 and 17. He is expected to exchange views with G7 leaders, partner countries and international organisations on issues ranging from global partnerships and economic growth to the safe and efficient deployment of artificial intelligence.

The Prime Minister will take part in discussions on forging new partnerships, rebuilding international solidarity and promoting balanced and sustainable economic growth. AI governance and deployment are also expected to feature prominently during the summit.

On the sidelines of the event, PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders.

The final leg of the visit will take him to Paris on June 18, where he will participate in VivaTech, Europe’s largest technology and startup conference. He is also expected to address members of the Indian community in the French capital.

The MEA said the Europe tour would further strengthen India’s ties with France, Slovakia and the G7 countries, while showcasing the country as a leading hub for innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation. The visit is also expected to reinforce India’s broader strategic engagement with the European Union and highlight its growing role as a leading voice of the Global South.
