The iPhone 18 Pro is set to be unveiled in a few weeks, in line with Apple’s typical launch schedule. While the company has yet to make an official announcement, speculation indicates that the new models could debut between 7 and 9 September 2026. This launch event is anticipated to be particularly noteworthy as Apple is rumoured to introduce its first foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series.

In addition to the iPhone 18 Pro, other models like the standard iPhone 18, a more budget-friendly iPhone 18e, and the second-generation iPhone Air have reportedly been postponed until early 2027. Thus, the spotlight during the September event is likely to focus on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. According to industry sources, several significant enhancements are anticipated for this new series.

Key Enhancements of the iPhone 18 Pro Series

One of the most significant improvements expected is an expansion in battery capacity. The iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a battery almost ten per cent larger than its predecessor, with estimates of capacities varying from 5,425mAh to 5,567mAh for the eSIM variant. While these larger batteries may lead to a slightly thicker and heavier design, they promise to deliver enhanced battery life.

Another notable upgrade is the anticipated A20 Pro chip. This new silicon design, reportedly manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process, may significantly enhance performance and offer better power efficiency compared to previous chips. Improvements in thermal management are expected to facilitate better handling of demanding tasks, such as gaming and video editing.

Camera technology is also rumoured to see substantial improvements. The primary 48-megapixel Fusion camera is expected to incorporate a variable aperture feature, allowing users greater control over light entering the lens. This advancement could substantially enhance low-light photography, portrait capabilities, and depth effects.

Additional Features and Pricing Information

Furthermore, the Pro-exclusive telephoto camera is also anticipated to receive enhancements, including a wider aperture that may improve low-light performance and zoom capabilities. Additionally, modifications may be made to the Dynamic Island, possibly reducing its size by relocating the Face ID flood illuminator beneath the display.

In terms of display technology, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to retain their current screen dimensions of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches but may incorporate LTPO+ display technology for improved energy efficiency. There is also speculation about the introduction of a new C2 modem, which could deliver faster 5G connectivity and improved signal reliability.

Apple might also roll out its new N2 wireless chip for the iPhone 18 Pro, which follows its predecessor, the N1. This upgrade is anticipated to enhance wireless connectivity, though specific details on its benefits remain forthcoming. New colour options, including Dark Cherry and Light Blue, along with a redesigned Ceramic Shield for a more seamless appearance, are also part of the expected changes.

Reports suggest that users may notice alterations in the Camera Control button as well, with the possibility of removing touch sensitivity in favour of pressure-based controls. Pricing for this year’s iPhones is projected to be higher than previous models, with estimates indicating that the iPhone 18 Pro series could see a price increase of up to Rs 20,000 in India. In the United States, the rise may amount to between $200 and $300, with the iPhone 18 Pro possibly starting at approximately Rs 1,54,900 in India.
