The ongoing marital discord between popular Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh and his wife Jyoti Singh escalated dramatically this week, as both held separate press conferences on Wednesday to present their versions of a deeply strained relationship. The couple, who have been embroiled in a divorce case for nearly four years, made serious accusations against one another, turning their private conflict into a public controversy.

Jyoti Singh Alleges Abuse, Forced Abortions

At a press conference in Mumbai, Jyoti Singh made several grave allegations, claiming that she was subjected to both physical and emotional abuse during her marriage. The most shocking claim came when she alleged that Pawan Singh gave her abortion pills repeatedly, despite his public image of desiring a child.

She wrote, “I have been trying to talk to you for several months about some family and political issues, but you or the people around you have perhaps not deemed it appropriate to reply to my calls and messages. I even went to Lucknow to meet you during Chhath when you came to Dehri; I thought it was appropriate to meet you then as well, but you refused to meet, saying it was instructed by the boss to meet in Lucknow. Two months ago, my father also went to meet you, but it did not provide any positive results.”

“What grave offence have I committed that I am being punished like this? If I am not worthy of you, you could have just left me. There was no need to give me false hope during the Lok Sabha elections. Today, you have given me no other choice than to self-immolate, but I cannot even do that because the questions will always be raised against me and my parents,” Jyoti added.

“He says he yearned for a child, but someone who truly wants a child doesn’t give abortion pills to his wife,” she said, as quoted by News18. Jyoti claimed she was administered these pills multiple times and, after enduring extreme distress, once consumed 25 sleeping pills around 2 a.m. She recalled being rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai, by Pawan’s brother and team members following the incident.

She further expressed her anguish over being ignored. “I am your family, yet it hurts me when you embrace those who once spoke harshly against you, but when I share my pain, my own family doesn’t even acknowledge me,” she wrote. Breaking down during the press meet, she said, “I hadn’t spoken out before, but Pawan Ji’s actions have compelled me to share my pain today.”

Pawan Singh Refutes Claims

In a separate press conference later that day, Pawan Singh responded to Jyoti’s allegations, terming them misleading and politically motivated. The actor, who recently rejoined the BJP, alleged that his wife’s sudden show of affection is a tactic to disrupt his public image.

“Our case has been ongoing in court for 3-4 years. Why is she expressing her emotions publicly only now?” he questioned. “This seems more like political drama than genuine concern.”

“Jyoti Singh posted on Instagram that she was coming to Lucknow to meet me. I was aware of her intentions and had informed the administration. We met at the flat with my brothers Hrithik and Dhananjay, while Jyoti was accompanied by her brother and elder sister, Juhi. How I behaved with her – only I, she, and God know that,” he said.

“I asked, can a case be fought while living under the same roof? I asked the staff to prepare food she wanted and went to a meeting, leaving my brother to talk to her,” he said.

“For me, the public is God. I would never hurt the sentiments of those who helped me reach this position. Jyoti Singh Ji, when you came to my society yesterday, I welcomed you with respect. We spoke for about one and a half hours. Your only demand was that I get you to contest elections, which is beyond my control,” he said.

Pawan stated that Jyoti visited his residence with her family and refused to leave until their divorce was finalized. He said he made arrangements for her stay and food before heading to a meeting, leaving his brother to speak with her.

Background of the Conflict

The trouble in the marriage surfaced publicly in August when Jyoti Singh posted a heartfelt note on social media, accusing Pawan of emotional neglect and silence. She wrote about multiple failed attempts to reach out to him and shared how even her father’s efforts to mediate had no effect. The emotional post hinted at suicidal thoughts due to the prolonged distress, drawing concern from netizens.

She accused Pawan of misleading her during the Lok Sabha elections and expressed heartbreak over being ignored by her own husband while he embraced those who once opposed him.

Calling her statement a “final plea,” Jyoti urged Pawan to respond to her calls and acknowledge her emotional turmoil after seven years of marital struggle.

Police Presence Clarified

Addressing speculation about police involvement during Jyoti’s recent visit, Pawan clarified that law enforcement officers were not called by him but were already present to maintain peace. He criticized the media portrayal and accused Jyoti of attempting to politicize their personal matters for personal gain.

The couple’s divorce proceedings remain unresolved, with no clarity on a final decision. Both sides continue to share contrasting narratives, leaving the public and fans divided over the truth behind the bitter dispute.
