Meerut Couple Heads Towards Divorce After Husband Brings Family On Honeymoon

The CSR Journal Magazine

What was meant to be a romantic beginning to married life has turned into a marital dispute serious enough to bring a newlywed couple to the brink of divorce in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district.

The disagreement centres on a honeymoon trip that, according to the wife, unexpectedly became a family holiday after her husband allegedly brought along his parents, brother and sister. The incident has now reached a family counselling centre, where repeated attempts at reconciliation have so far failed to resolve the conflict.

Counsellors handling the matter say the dispute highlights a deeper clash of expectations about marriage, personal space and family involvement.

Honeymoon Turns Into Family Trip

According to the woman’s account, she had expected the honeymoon to be an opportunity for the newly married couple to spend time together, understand each other better and strengthen their relationship after the wedding.

Instead, she found herself sharing the trip with multiple members of her husband’s family.

The wife reportedly told counsellors that a honeymoon is traditionally intended for a husband and wife to enjoy private time together and begin their married life away from daily responsibilities and family pressures.

She claimed that the presence of her in-laws throughout the journey left little room for personal interaction with her husband, leading to disappointment and frustration.

What initially appeared to be a disagreement over travel plans gradually escalated into frequent arguments, eventually prompting the couple to seek professional counselling.

Husband Defends Decision

The husband, however, has presented a different version of events.

According to counsellors, he has maintained that his decision to include family members was motivated by a desire to keep everyone happy and involved. He reportedly does not believe there was anything inappropriate about the arrangement and insists he never intended to upset his wife.

The disagreement has exposed contrasting expectations regarding family dynamics and personal boundaries within marriage.

Counsellors say the core issue is not merely the trip itself but the differing views the couple holds about independence, privacy and the role of extended family after marriage.

Counselling Efforts Yet To Yield Results

The couple has already participated in three counselling sessions, but efforts to bridge the gap have not produced a breakthrough.

Officials associated with the counselling process said another round of discussions was recently conducted and both parties have been encouraged to reconsider their positions before taking any irreversible decisions.

Despite these efforts, the deadlock continues, with divorce now being openly discussed as a possible outcome if reconciliation fails.

The woman belongs to the Ramraj area of Meerut district, while her husband is a resident of Delhi’s Patel Nagar. The marriage was arranged through a matrimonial website. The bride is a graduate, while the groom studied hospitality management in Singapore.

What began as a promising arranged marriage has now become an unusual case at the family counselling centre, where counsellors are making a final attempt to save the relationship.

If the ongoing discussions fail to resolve the dispute, the matter could move towards formal separation proceedings, bringing an abrupt end to a marriage that has barely begun.
