The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Airport Sector has taken a significant step to enhance cyber security in the aviation industry by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) on August 7. This agreement facilitates a specialised six-week residential Cyber Security Training Programme tailored for CISF personnel.

This initiative follows directives outlined by the Prime Minister during the DsGP/IsGP Conference-2024, emphasising the need for a cyber-capable security force. The Union Home Minister has also underscored the importance of strengthening cyber commando capabilities across Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and State Police organisations.

Significantly, this training programme is positioned to bolster the Airport Sector’s capacity to handle cyber threats, as the aviation infrastructure is classified as critical national infrastructure. The inclusion of Emerging Cyber Threats and Multi-Sector Crisis Simulation reflects the programme’s comprehensive approach.
