Manipur Class 10 Results Show 88.74% Pass Rate Amid Decline

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) has announced the results for the Class 10 examinations, showing a notable decrease in the overall pass percentage. The pass rate for 2026 stands at 88.74%, down from last year’s figure of 91.37%. This decline suggests a slight drop in academic performance across the state.

A total of 36,725 candidates registered for the examinations, comprised of 18,375 boys and 18,350 girls. Out of these, 32,459 students successfully passed the examinations, including 16,253 boys and 16,206 girls, thereby indicating a balanced success rate among genders. Students can access the results through the official website, manresults.nic.in.

The examinations were conducted between February 23 and March 23 at a total of 161 centres throughout Manipur. BOSEM undertakes the responsibility of conducting these assessments, ensuring they take place annually across various locations.

District Performance Analysis

In the district-wise performance, Chandel emerged as the leading district with an impressive pass rate of 97.38%. This was closely followed by Thoubal, which recorded a pass rate of 96.30%. However, Jiribam performed the weakest, achieving a pass rate of only 74.59%. Such disparities highlight significant regional differences in educational outcomes.

The performance data indicates that while some districts excelled, others face considerable challenges in achieving higher pass rates. This information is crucial for the authorities as they seek to address inequities in education across different regions of the state.

Education officials are expected to analyse these results further in order to recognise successful strategies and areas needing improvement. Efforts to replicate successful practices in lower-performing districts may be a step towards enhancing the overall educational framework.

Support for Displaced Students

Amidst ongoing ethnic unrest, 392 internally displaced students participated in the Class 10 examinations. Of these, 327 students managed to pass, leading to a pass percentage of 83.85% for this specific group. The results reflect the commitment to ensuring educational continuity, even in challenging circumstances.

Data provided by officials reveals that 19,046 students from hill districts appeared at 61 examination centres, while 17,679 candidates from valley districts took their tests at 100 centres. Bishnupur reported the highest number of displaced candidates involved in the examinations, underscoring the resilience of these students.

The ongoing support for displaced students indicates a recognition of their unique challenges and the need for tailored educational resources. Authorities continue to seek ways to bolster educational opportunities for these individuals, thereby fostering inclusivity in the educational landscape.

Implementation of Anti-Cheating Measures

BOSEM has implemented strict regulations as per the Manipur Prevention of Malpractices Act, 2024, which mandates severe penalties including prison sentences and significant fines for malpractice-related offences. This legal framework aims to uphold the integrity of the examination process.

During the Class 10 examinations, several disciplinary actions were taken. Eight students were debarred for impersonation, one student was expelled, and results for three candidates have been withheld pending investigations. Educational institutions have been instructed to liaise with BOSEM concerning any ongoing cases of malpractice.

The emphasis on maintaining examination integrity reflects the board’s commitment to ensuring fairness in assessment. Monitoring and enforcement of these guidelines will be critical to restoring confidence in the examination process and safeguarding the academic environment for all students.
