The Keralam Education Department has distanced itself from the contentious “Freedom Quiz”. Officials have stated that the event was not part of the official calendar published by the department or the Social Science Club, indicating that there was no official sanction for the quiz.

It has been reported that local educators associated with the Social Science Club Association were behind the drafting of the quiz questions. Additionally, officials suggested that the phrasing of the questions may have been influenced by artificial intelligence tools, raising further questions about the nature of the content presented to students.

Minister Shamsudheen’s office has described the quiz content as containing “prejudiced views” and factual inaccuracies. The Minister emphasised the importance of maintaining historical integrity within educational settings, committing to follow up with rigorous actions following the comprehensive report from the inquiry.
