Manipal University Jaipur Holds Global Meet on Sustainable Economic Development

Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) hosted the International Conference on Transition, Resilience and Applied Economics (ICTRAE 2026) on 01 July. The event focused on sustainable economic development and gathered prominent economists, researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders from various regions of India. The aim was to deliberate on pressing economic challenges and strategies for sustainable development.

Organised by the Department of Economics at the TAPMI School of Business within the Faculty of Management, Commerce and Arts, the two-day conference provided a national platform for diverse discussions centred on economic transitions, resilience to climate change, public policy, and the impact of technology such as artificial intelligence on economic sustainability.

Inauguration and Keynote Sessions

The conference began with a ceremonial lamp-lighting, symbolising the quest for knowledge. The opening session was attended by Dr. Amit Soni, Registrar of MUJ, and Dr. Brajesh Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Management, Commerce and Arts, along with various university officials and delegates. Dr. Kumar underscored the essential nature of collaborative research in tackling modern economic challenges during his welcoming address.

Dr. Amit Soni, in his inaugural speech, elaborated on the university’s robust research environment and its commitment to fostering interdisciplinary innovation. He also observed the institution’s achievements in producing research that is relevant on a global scale, reinforcing the need for ongoing development in academic and research initiatives.

A prominent feature of the conference was the keynote address delivered by Dr. Naresh Chandra Sahu, an Associate Professor at IIT Bhubaneswar. He discussed the significance of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks in influencing investment behaviours and promoting sustainable business practices in emerging markets.

Throughout the two days, the conference included five thematic technical tracks, a variety of expert sessions, and panel discussions that covered multiple contemporary economic issues. Esteemed scholars, such as Dr. Ayona Bhattacharjee from IMI New Delhi and Dr. Tulika Tripathi from the Central University of Gujarat, shared insights through expert lectures, enriching the dialogue on economic resilience and sustainability.

The participation spanned from prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, and Central as well as State Universities, showcasing the conference’s esteemed academic reputation. These discussions were designed to foster an exchange of innovative research ideas and encourage collaborative efforts among scholars and practitioners.

The conference concluded with a valedictory address from Dr. Sarthak Gaurav of IIT Bombay, who presented insights on complexity economics. His session aimed at exploring the intricate dynamics of economic systems and their implications for public policy and sustainable growth.

The organising committee expressed that ICTRAE 2026 has established itself as a dynamic forum for advancing interdisciplinary research, encouraging academic collaborations, and enhancing evidence-based policy discussions. This aligns with MUJ’s vision of contributing significantly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and advancing India’s research and innovation landscape.
