Rahul Kranti, a prominent leader in the ongoing protests against alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations, has been hospitalised following a deterioration in his health. During the ongoing satyagraha at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, he experienced severe fever and headaches, necessitating urgent medical attention. By morning, his medical condition had worsened considerably, resulting in his admission to the Intensive Care Unit.

Despite his health issues, supporters describe Rahul as a resolute advocate for candidates’ rights. His efforts in both judicial courts and on the streets have reportedly enabled significant movements for educational reform. As protests persist in Ranchi, many candidates continue to look eagerly towards the government for a resolution. Rahul’s spirit, however, remains unbroken, as he expressed confidence that their collective struggle will compel governmental action.

Background and Evolution of Rahul Kranti

Rahul Kumar, originally known by his birth name, adopted the moniker “Kranti,” which translates to ‘revolution’, given to him by his supporters. The title reflects his involvement in advocating for candidates subjected to unfair recruitment practices, particularly by the JSSC. According to Rahul, he was one of the initial voices opposing the lack of transparency in merit lists during counselling sessions conducted by the commission.

As discontent grew among educators regarding the perceived injustices in recruitment, teachers from across Jharkhand began to rally around him. Many conveyed to him their belief that he was the advocate capable of igniting significant reform. This support not only solidified his reputation but also firmly established him in the movement for educational rights.

Rahul claims to have spearheaded nearly ten movements focused on various recruitment issues, including the JPSC, JSSC CGL, and age-relaxation protocols. Each campaign is alleged to have brought about favourable changes for numerous candidates, with one of the most pivotal legal interventions concerning age limits in JPSC examinations.

Personal Struggles Fuel Advocacy

Rahul’s journey is not solely marked by protests; he is also a former aspirant who successfully cleared the mains examination for JPSC. However, he alleges that corruption within the recruitment framework dashed his hopes of achieving a government position. Reportedly, during one examination cycle, there were instances of compromised integrity, with leaked question papers originating from a hotel in proximity to the Ranchi railway station.

Despite diligently preparing and progressing through various stages of the recruitment process, Rahul claims he ultimately did not feature on the final list. This setback catalysed a shift in his focus from personal aspirations to fighting systemic changes in educational recruitment.

Now in his forties and married with two small children, Rahul’s family patiently awaits a resolution to his fight for reform. While many individuals at this stage in life might seek stability in their careers, he remains committed to advocating for candidates’ rights. From his hospital bed, his determination to continue this struggle remains steadfast, stating that the movement wishes to secure a better future for impending generations.
