Gujarat Police Arrests Five More Jaish Operatives Linked to Planned Blasts

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has apprehended five additional individuals allegedly associated with a module of the banned terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). This action brings the overall number of arrests in this case to thirteen, according to sources familiar with the situation. Previously, the ATS had detained eight suspects as part of its ongoing investigation.

The recently arrested individuals were reportedly taken into custody from various districts across Gujarat. The authorities believe that these five new suspects are part of the same network that was initially identified. Their identities have been confirmed as Bilal Abid Shera, Mohammed Aiyub Kadiwal, also known as Mohammed Khadiyasan, Mohammed Shafi Mukhi, referred to as Shafi Chapi, Mohammed Hasan Karadiya, also called Hasan Haidarpuri, and Mohammed Aiyub Sunasara, known as Mohammed Khali.

Allegations of Bomb Plotting and IED Manufacturing

Sources indicate that the accused had allegedly been in touch with one another for over six months. They were reportedly planning bomb blasts not only in Gujarat but also in other states of India. Evidence suggests that the group had made improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Gujarat, with several trial explosions conducted in remote areas to test their effectiveness. It has been reported that they performed these trials approximately six to seven times, with varying results; some devices successfully detonated while others did not.

Officials made significant progress in the investigation after forensic analysis was conducted on electronic devices seized from three of the arrested suspects. Allegedly, the examination uncovered that these individuals were in direct communication with the high-ranking leaders of JeM and had been in regular contact with the group’s headquarters located in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. This electronic evidence indicates ongoing communication between the suspects and their handlers based in Pakistan.

According to sources, the recent Pakistani-based communications had intensified following India’s Operation Sindoor, which reportedly inflicted considerable disruption to the JeM’s operations in Bahawalpur. This has allegedly prompted the organisation to make attempts to reorganise and restore its network within India. Investigators are examining the extent to which the apprehended module correlates with these efforts to rebuild.

Ongoing Investigation by Gujarat ATS

The investigation into this terror module remains active as the Gujarat ATS continues its efforts to track down additional operatives and their alleged connections to sources based in Pakistan. The authorities are focused on determining the full scope and intent of the planned attacks, as well as any other persons or networks that might be involved.

The monitoring of communications and operational behaviours of these suspects has become a crucial element of the ongoing investigation. Experts are analysing all available data to assess the threat level the group poses. As the situation develops, law enforcement agencies are keen to ensure the safety and security of citizens across the affected regions.

In light of these events, the Gujarat ATS is maintaining a high level of vigilance. Enhanced security measures and intelligence operations are being implemented across various districts to prevent any possible terrorist activities. The cooperation between different security agencies is vital to addressing and mitigating the risks associated with such threats in the future.
