Ghaziabad Horror: Man Attacks Neighbour with Sword Over Affair Suspicion, Ear Severed

The CSR Journal Magazine

A man from Ghaziabad attacked his neighbour with a sword, leading to serious injuries, including the amputation of part of the victim’s ear. This incident, which took place on the evening of April 16 in the Siddharth Vihar locality, has raised alarming concerns regarding domestic disputes and violence in residential areas. The assailant, identified as Nitin, allegedly acted out of suspicion that his wife was having an affair with the victim, Abhishek Pratap Singh.

The altercation was recorded by a CCTV camera, which captured the moments leading up to the attack. It evidently depicted Abhishek riding his motorcycle past the entrance of the Gokuldham Society before stopping to converse with another individual. Nitin, approaching from behind, launched a surprise assault on Abhishek with the sword, igniting a violent confrontation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that there had been ongoing tensions between Nitin and Abhishek due to Nitin’s suspicions regarding an alleged illicit relationship between the two. This incident is the culmination of prior disputes that had escalated to this extreme level of violence.

Actions During the Attack

The CCTV footage shows a chaotic scene, highlighting the ferocity of the attack. After Nitin approached Abhishek, a struggle ensued, with both men grappling for control. During the altercation, Abhishek was reportedly struck multiple times with the sword, eventually leading to him collapsing to the ground, clutching his injured ear.

An onlooker, who witnessed the confrontation, intervened at a critical moment to prevent further harm to Abhishek. After the commotion subsided, Abhishek managed to leave the scene on his motorcycle, despite suffering severe injuries. Such incidents starkly illustrate the potential for escalation in personal disputes and the urgent need for conflict resolution mechanisms within communities.

The violent nature of the attack has shocked residents of Siddharth Vihar, and it raises questions about the underlying issues that lead to such aggressive confrontations. Witnesses have expressed concern over safety in their neighbourhood, highlighting the need for stronger community engagement and support systems.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Following the incident, Abhishek filed a formal complaint with the local police, prompting an immediate investigation. Authorities recorded the case under Section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to serious injury offences. The police swiftly arrested Nitin, who has since been taken into custody and remanded to jail as the inquiry continues.

Law enforcement officials have indicated that the CCTV footage will serve as a crucial piece of evidence as they investigate the matter further. They have reassured the community that all aspects of the case will be thoroughly examined, and strict action will be pursued against those involved in violent acts.

The local police encourage residents to report any suspicious behaviour and conflicts to prevent similar incidents in the future. The situation has ignited discussions about the importance of addressing interpersonal issues through dialogue and mediation before they escalate into violence.
