Actor Esha Deol has shared an emotional insight into how she continues to cope with the loss of her father, veteran Bollywood star Dharmendra. Reflecting on life after his passing, Esha revealed that her bed is now covered with teddy bears—a touching tribute to the man she affectionately called her “Teddy Bear.”

The actress opened up about the deeply personal ritual, explaining that the soft toys bring her comfort and help her feel connected to her father during moments of grief.

A Special Bond Remembered Every Day

Speaking about her relationship with Dharmendra, Esha said the nickname “Teddy Bear” had always been her term of endearment for him. Today, the teddy bears surrounding her serve as a reminder of his presence and the love they shared.

She acknowledged that the pain of losing a parent never truly disappears. Instead, she said, people learn to carry that loss with them while drawing strength from cherished memories. According to Esha, her father’s influence continues to guide her every day, and she carries his values and resilience wherever she goes.

A Lifetime of Memories

When asked about her favorite memory of Dharmendra, Esha said choosing just one was impossible. She described their bond as the culmination of a lifetime spent admiring and learning from her father.

The actress recalled missing everything about him—from hearing his voice to simply holding his hand. For Esha, the memories span decades and remain an inseparable part of her life.

Esha also reflected on a particularly emotional moment when her mother, actress Hema Malini, accepted the Padma Vibhushan on Dharmendra’s behalf. While the honour filled the family with pride, it also underscored the sadness of his absence during such a significant occasion.

Esha believes her father deserved even greater recognition during his illustrious career, although awards were never his primary concern. She noted that the love and admiration he received from audiences meant more to him than any accolade.

While continuing to cherish his memory, Esha remains focused on her acting career. After appearing in projects such as “Tumko Meri Kasam” and “Hunter Tootega Nahi Todega,” she is now preparing for her upcoming horror-comedy film, “Ghunghat.”
