Eight individuals tragically lost their lives in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district when a bus operated by the State Transport Corporation was involved in a serious accident on the Salem-Coimbatore national highway. The bus, which was transporting 13 tourists from Perinthalmanna in Kerala, veered off the road after the driver reportedly lost control while navigating a hairpin bend.

The bus is said to have collided head-on with both a two-wheeler and an autorickshaw carrying nearly ten passengers. Following the impact, the bus plunged into the area near the 9th hairpin bend. The accident took place around 8 am, resulting in immediate fatalities.

Among the deceased, there was one male and seven females. Five other individuals—including the driver, two male juveniles aged between 17 and 18 years, and two females—sustained injuries and were subsequently rescued. They were taken to the government hospital located in Pollachi for necessary medical attention.
