Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren met with Governor Santosh Gangwar on August 5 at Lok Bhavan to discuss the alleged irregularities associated with the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations. The meeting addressed the ongoing protests by candidates in Ranchi, highlighting concerns over the integrity of the examination processes.

During the discussion, Governor Gangwar underscored the importance of transparency in exam procedures to maintain the confidence of the youth in the state’s recruitment systems. He referred to the alleged irregularities as very serious and expressed the need for immediate action to rectify the situation.

In response, CM Soren emphasised the state government’s dedication to upholding justice for students. He assured Governor Gangwar that the government would not allow any injustice towards the candidates and that all necessary measures would be implemented to resolve the situation.

Government’s Commitment to Addressing Concerns

Chief Minister Soren further revealed that the government is receptive to dialogue with the students involved in the protests regarding the alleged discrepancies in the recruitment exams. He stated that their demands would be thoroughly considered, signifying an approachable stance by the government.

Speaking to the media, Soren mentioned that several arrests had been made in connection with the allegations, and investigative agencies are actively conducting inquiries across various locations. He expressed confidence that these efforts would lead to a satisfactory resolution to the issues raised.

“I have not communicated with the Home Minister as of yet, but I will do so if deemed necessary,” Soren indicated. He affirmed that the government remains open to hearing from individuals who have concerns, assuring that all voices would be taken seriously as the administration seeks to address the situation.

Support from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha

The ruling party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has publicly expressed its support for the candidates protesting against the alleged irregularities. The party indicated that the government is poised to initiate measures to tackle the grievances of the protesting aspirants shortly.

A JMM spokesperson stated, “The party stands in solidarity with the aspirants in their protests. We are aware of their demands, and the government will establish a high-level committee within the next few days to address these issues.”

The protests have gained momentum following the announcement of results for the 14th JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination on July 5, with candidates alleging significant irregularities in the recruitment process. The protesters have maintained continuous demonstrations, including an indefinite sit-in, calling for greater transparency and accountability. They are demanding the cancellation of the Preliminary Test results for the 14th JPSC Combined Civil Services Examination and a review of examinations carried out through TDPL agencies.
