The CSR Journal Magazine

EaseMyTrip Foundation, the corporate social responsibility division of the travel technology company, EaseMyTrip, has formed a partnership with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to establish Savee Cafeteria at the Qutub Minar site. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance visitor experiences at this iconic heritage location. The launch was attended by notable dignitaries, including Bhuvnesh Kumar, the Tourism Secretary, and Vivek Aggarwal, the Culture Secretary, along with officials from ASI and representatives from EaseMyTrip Foundation.

This collaboration underscores the importance of joint efforts between public and private sectors in preserving India’s rich heritage while also boosting the tourism sector. The cafeteria aims to provide visitors with hygienic, affordable dining options that contribute to a more pleasant overall experience during their visit.

With India witnessing a considerable growth in heritage tourism, recently noted to include over 250 crore domestic visits, such initiatives align with the country’s increasing focus on enriching the tourist experience. The Qutub Minar, which attracts nearly 3 million visitors annually, stands as a testament to the burgeoning interest in India’s cultural landmarks.

Objectives of the Initiative

The primary goal of introducing Savee Cafeteria is to elevate the visitor experience at Qutub Minar by ensuring access to clean food facilities. This move aligns with the contemporary demands of travellers who favour immersive experiences during their journeys. Ajay Verna, Chief Experience Officer of EaseMyTrip Foundation, emphasised the need for improved visitor infrastructure, which plays a crucial role in the modern tourism narrative.

As a prominent heritage site, the Qutub Minar is continuously developing to cater to a growing audience interested in cultural and historical tourism. The collaboration between EaseMyTrip Foundation and ASI aims to enhance various facets of the visitor experience, including accessibility and comfort.

Moreover, the partnership is exploring supplementary initiatives that could potentially include heritage walks and integrated cultural experiences. These projects are intended to deepen visitor engagement while promoting sustainable tourism practices.

Broader Impact and Future Endeavours

EaseMyTrip Foundation has been proactive in supporting various heritage sites through the ‘Adopt a Heritage’ initiative, currently backing four significant monuments: Agra Fort, Khajuraho, Sun Temple, and Qutub Minar. This strategy demonstrates the foundation’s commitment to fostering cultural preservation and enhancing local tourism opportunities.

Rikant Pittie, the CEO and Co-Founder of EaseMyTrip, remarked on the launch of Savee Cafeteria as a notable advancement in their partnership with ASI, aiming to make heritage tourism not only more sustainable but also more accessible. The cafeteria is designed to invite visitors to spend more time at Qutub Minar, potentially increasing local employment through this initiative.

As heritage and experiential tourism continues to gain momentum in India, initiatives such as this are likely to play a pivotal role in transforming cultural destinations into more invitable and globally competitive sites. The collaborative effort between EaseMyTrip and ASI is a step forward in enhancing the overall framework of India’s tourism ecosystem and preserving its cultural legacy for future generations.
