A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer has reportedly died after allegedly shooting himself while on duty at a judge’s residence in the Moti Bagh area of Delhi on July 2, 2026. The deceased, identified as Narsi Lal Yadav, aged 37, was providing security at the location when the incident occurred.

According to initial reports, Yadav used his service revolver to inflict a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Colleagues and nearby local police were alerted by the sound of the gunfire and quickly arrived at the scene to offer assistance, but he was declared dead upon their arrival.

Emergency services were contacted immediately following the incident, and law enforcement officials arrived to secure the area. His body has since been moved to the Safdarjung Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination, as per standard procedures in such cases.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have initiated an inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation includes a thorough examination of the site where the shooting occurred, along with the collection of statements from Yadav’s colleagues and other personnel who were present at the time.

Police are meticulously reviewing all available evidence as part of the investigation. Officers have confirmed that they are treating the investigation seriously to gain a comprehensive understanding of the events leading up to the incident.

So far, there have been no indications of foul play, as stated by officials involved in the case. The investigation aims to establish clarity regarding the cause of death, considering that additional insights may emerge following the post-mortem examination.

Reactions and Further Developments

The CRPF has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident or the status of Yadav’s family. Given the sensitive nature of the case, further details are expected to be released as investigations progress. The lack of an immediate statement has led to a heightened interest among local media and the community.

Colleagues and peers of the deceased have expressed their shock and sorrow over the incident, highlighting the impact of such occurrences on the morale of personnel serving in demanding security roles. The case has raised questions about mental health support for security personnel, particularly given the high-stress nature of their work.

As the investigation continues, officers will also focus on the protocols in place for mental health support within the CRPF, particularly in light of the pressures faced by personnel on duty. Further updates will likely follow as officials work to complete the investigation and clarify the details surrounding this tragic event.
