New Delhi, India: Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material company of diversified Adani Group, under its CSR initiatives revolutionizes and empowers the villages of Bathinda, Punjab, through its transformative healthcare initiative. The initiative focuses on both preventive and promotive aspects of healthcare, with a strong focus on women, children and adolescents – implemented in the villages in collaboration with the local health department, Panchayat, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and youth clubs in villages. By investing in programs and projects that prioritize health and well-being, the company aims to contribute towards the overall welfare and health of individuals and the communities.
Ambuja Cements through its CSR initiatives aims to combat non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by educating the community and building their capacity to bring about lifestyle changes. Under this program, Ambuja Cements established an open air-gym encouraging daily exercises.
The Company also organized training sessions on CPR exclusively for Adolescent Peer Educators (APEs) in Bathinda. These sessions equipped APEs with comprehensive skills to respond efficiently during cardiac arrest situations, empowering students with valuable knowledge to effectively mitigate NCD risks.A total of 191 APEs from 9 different schools have received this training.
Additionally, Ambuja Cements under its CSR organized a distribution drive, providing crucial support to individuals fighting against TB, in a bid to contribute to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s objective of eradicating TB by 2025 as part of the Nikshaya Mitra initiative. A total of 82 health kits, including essential dietary provisions were distributed to patients in the region. This distribution has played a major role in raising awareness about the harmful consequences of TB and emphasizing the importance of early intervention during the initial stages of the disease.
