Congress Member of Parliament Deepender Hooda has asserted that the government must acknowledge the demands of the youth, particularly those calling for educational reforms. Hooda, who represents the Rohtak constituency, condemned the use of force against students who have been protesting. He indicated that the youth are united in their demand for action, specifically calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Hooda emphasised the necessity for dialogue regarding educational issues and declared that attempts to intimidate the youth with violence would not be tolerated. He expressed that the government’s ongoing inaction demonstrates its deafness to pressing concerns. He stated, “How much this government becomes deaf, but it will have to listen to it,” reinforcing the urgent need for attention to the issue.

Demands for Parliamentary Discussion on Education Reforms

The opposition is advocating for an immediate discussion in Parliament regarding the situation. Deepender Hooda responded to the government’s assertion that discussions would follow predetermined rules by critiquing their unwillingness to clarify these rules. He urged that legislative business be adjourned so that meaningful debate on the matter could take place, highlighting the need for the government to facilitate a transparent and comprehensive dialogue.

Hooda’s comments reflect broader frustrations among youth and opposition leaders who are calling for immediate reforms in the educational sector. The lack of response from the government, coupled with rising tension, has sparked significant concern among various political factions.

In addition to Hooda, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra also raised alarms regarding educational setbacks, citing that 152 incidents of paper leaks have negatively impacted over 8 crore students. This widespread discontent among students has ignited protests, showcasing a growing impatience towards the perceived negligence of the government regarding their academic futures.

Government’s Response to Protests and Proposed Discussions

The government has reiterated its willingness to engage in discussions concerning the NEET paper leak incident amid ongoing protests. Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju addressed the Lok Sabha on the same day, declaring that the administration is prepared to enter into discussions about the NEET UG paper leak issues.

Rijiju made it clear that the government had been open for discussions over the past three days and expressed a desire for these discussions to adhere to proper parliamentary rules. He proposed that consultations take place among floor leaders of all parties to determine the structure and timing of the discussions, reflecting a structured approach to addressing the contentious issues surrounding educational reforms.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla echoed Rijiju’s sentiments by inviting opposition parties to participate in setting the agenda for further discussion. This invitation signals a potential avenue for collaboration in addressing the pressing concerns of the youth and the broader implications of the educational reforms being demanded by students nationwide.
