The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced plans for nationwide peaceful protests on July 24, seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This initiative aims to address the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, which has reportedly affected lakhs of students across India. In a recent post on social media platform X, the CJP encouraged widespread participation in these protests, emphasising the importance of collective action.

CJP has urged various student unions and other organisations to join forces, coordinating logistics and permissions for the demonstrations. The party calls for participants to articulate the students’ grievances during these gatherings. This move comes as part of ongoing youth-led protests against Pradhan, who is facing serious allegations linked to the NEET paper leak issue.

Abhijeet Dipke, the founding president of CJP, issued a warning to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, insisting that if Pradhan’s resignation is not forthcoming, the protests might escalate to call for the Prime Minister’s resignation as well. Dipke’s comments indicate a growing frustration within the party and among students regarding the government’s response to the situation.

CJP Critiques Government Handling of Paper Leak Controversy

Dipke has labelled Pradhan an “incompetent and failed” minister, asserting that the Minister’s position should not take precedence over the wellbeing of millions of students. He stated that a minister deemed ineffective cannot be more significant than the interests of countless young people, urging that failure to address this issue would severely impact electoral support for the ruling party.

On the other hand, the government is reportedly preparing to discuss the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak amid rising tensions and protests in the capital. Sources indicate that government officials are reaching out to various political leaders to facilitate a dialogue. However, discussions may proceed under the condition that opposition demands for resignations be set aside.

Meanwhile, Sourav Das, a spokesperson for CJP, has asserted that the demand for Pradhan’s resignation is “non-negotiable.” He made it clear that the organisation is prepared to continue protests until their demands are satisfactorily addressed, demonstrating CJP’s commitment to bringing attention to this issue.

Government’s Response and Protests Continue

Union Health Minister JP Nadda has weighed in on the situation, cautioning against politicising the issue of paper leaks, which he describes as a significant problem requiring thorough discussion. The government has made overtures to engage in talks with both student leaders and opposition parties, aiming to mitigate the unrest.

Despite the government’s readiness to engage in dialogue, CJP Chief Spokesperson Sourav Das mentioned that he has yet to receive any concrete communication from the authorities regarding such negotiations. He further reiterated the party’s willingness to meet at a neutral location, such as Jantar Mantar or the Constitution Club of India. This proposal reflects ongoing tensions and the party’s desire for open channels of communication.

Additionally, Das responded critically to Prime Minister Modi’s recent announcement regarding the establishment of fast-track courts to enforce severe penalties for those involved in paper leaks. He dismissed these proclamations as inadequately addressing the root of the problem, suggesting that such measures might divert attention from the genuine concerns raised by protesters and students alike.
