CIK Conducts Search Operations Across Anantnag, Shopian and Baramulla

The CSR Journal Magazine

Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) has conducted simultaneous search operations at various locations in the Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir on 8 August. The operations were aimed at gathering intelligence and evidence related to ongoing investigations. During a search at a residential location in the Hiller Shahabad area of Anantnag, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Farooq Ahmad, two digital devices were seized by the CIK team.

The seized devices are reportedly linked to FIR No. 03/2026, which has been registered at the CIK Kashmir Police Station. The FIR involves allegations under Sections 153A and 505 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Sections 13 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Officials indicated that the evidence gathered will be subjected to a detailed forensic examination as part of the continued investigation process.

Security Measures and Alert in Ramban District

In a related security development, a high-security alert was issued in Ramban district on the early morning of 8 August 2023 following an incident involving a car that allegedly evaded a police checkpoint at Chanderkote. The vehicle reportedly sped away towards the Nashri area after failing to halt at the checkpoint around 3:30 am, prompting a coordinated search operation involving multiple security agencies.

The car was reportedly travelling from Srinagar to Jammu when it attempted to bypass the police personnel stationed at the checkpoint. This incident highlights the increasing challenges faced by security forces in maintaining law and order in the region, especially in light of recent security-related incidents.

Security agencies have remained on high alert across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), a crucial route that connects the Kashmir Valley to the rest of India. Regular vehicle inspections, identity verification procedures, and area domination efforts are being executed by security forces to enhance vigilance and deter unlawful acts.

Intensification of Security Operations

In recent months, law enforcement agencies, including local police, the Army, and central security forces, have heightened their surveillance operations across sensitive districts in Jammu and Kashmir. This intensified focus is particularly prominent along major highways and border regions, aimed at intercepting potential movement of terrorists, arms, and other illegal activities.

Officials emphasise that these ongoing operations are essential in maintaining peace and security in the region amidst rising concerns about terrorism and unlawful activities. The surveillance measures aim to deter any illegal transit and ensure the safety of local communities and travellers alike.

As the situation evolves, security agencies remain committed to monitoring developments closely, adapting their strategies to respond to any threats effectively. The comprehensive approach taken by law enforcement aims not only to address immediate concerns but also to foster a sustainable security environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
