Pulwama Police, alongside the 44 Rashtriya Rifles and 183 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force, executed a significant operation on August 3, resulting in the arrest of a suspect connected to alleged terror activities. The operation took place during a routine checkpoint along the Drabgam-Pachar Road, where officers initiated a search on a suspicious individual approaching the area.

The individual, identified as Tousef Ahmad Dar, was seen attempting to evade capture after noticing the police presence. Officers quickly pursued him, successfully apprehending him near the Fruit Mandi situated on Pachar Road. During the search, law enforcement uncovered a hand grenade, alongside three anti-national posters and a mobile phone, leading to his immediate detention.

Subsequent to his arrest, police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Dar under various sections, including the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. An investigation has been launched to examine the origins of the materials seized, aiming to uncover any additional connections to terrorist activities.

Separate Police Action Against Alleged Terror Handlers

In an unrelated operation on July 30, Reasi Police moved to attach the immovable properties of five individuals purportedly linked to Pakistan-based terror operations. This action was part of an investigation initiated under specific provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and the EIMCO Act.

A police team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mahore, Parul Bhardwaj, along with the station house officer from Police Station Mahore, executed the attachment procedure with the presence of the Executive Magistrate and local witnesses. This formal action followed the collection of credible evidence suggesting that the suspects had travelled to Pakistan for terrorist training and were currently operating from across the border, coordinating and facilitating terrorism.

Authorities determined that the attached properties were intended for use in sustaining and financing terrorist operations. With the necessary approval from the Police Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir, Reasi Police moved forward with the property attachment under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, aiming to block any potential misuse for terror funding.

Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to enhancing security and counter-terrorism measures in the region. The recent activities underscore a concerted effort to dismantle the networks supporting terrorism within Jammu and Kashmir.
