Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai has claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is intimidated by Rahul Gandhi’s presence as he prepares for the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme scheduled in Prayagraj. Rai stated that the BJP’s actions demonstrate its concern over the Congress leader and his engagement with the youth.

In comments, Rai asserted that the ruling party has failed to address the needs of the youth and that there are attempts to obstruct Gandhi’s events. He suggested that the government is putting undue pressure on educational institutions and coaching centres in Prayagraj to deter students from participating in the programme.

Congress Highlights Lack of Development

Rai contended that the Congress party has historically contributed significantly to the educational landscape in India, pointing out its role in establishing universities, medical colleges, and institutions like ISRO. He argued that the current administration has not built any new colleges or universities in Prayagraj, leading to a decline in the quality of education in the region.

The Congress leader expressed concerns over the closure of various faculties and the deterioration of medical colleges, emphasising that the youth in Prayagraj are increasingly disadvantaged due to the lack of educational infrastructure and opportunities.

As Gandhi prepares for the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event at KP Ground, he is expected to discuss key issues affecting students and job seekers. These include problems related to paper leaks, halted recruitment processes, and escalating educational expenses.

Protests Over Recruitment Irregularities

Rai also addressed the student protests in Jharkhand, which have been ongoing since the announcement of the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Civil Services Preliminary Examination results on July 5. Protesting students allege irregularities in the recruitment process, which have led to a series of round-the-clock demonstrations demanding accountability.

In his remarks, Rai defended the party’s prompt response to the situation in Jharkhand and mentioned that measures have already been implemented to investigate and rectify the issues raised by student protesters. He stated that the resignation of the commission chairman and the jailing of several officials demonstrate the seriousness with which the Congress party is treating the matter.

Rai expressed confidence that due justice would be served to the students and reiterated that Rahul Gandhi is committed to addressing their grievances. He urged the BJP to focus on pressing issues within their own states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand, rather than attempting to undermine the Congress party’s initiatives.
