CBSE Announces Class 12 Supplementary Practical Exams Schedule for 2026

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the schedule for the Class 12 supplementary practical examinations for the year 2026. According to the notification published by the board, these examinations will take place from July 29 to August 4, 2026. The organisation aims to facilitate students who are required to clear these practical assessments due to various reasons outlined in the notice.

The compulsory nature of the practical exams is directed towards two categories of students who are placed in the Compartment category. Firstly, those who need to appear for the Repeat Practical (RP) in any subject, and secondly, those who must undertake both Repeat Theory and Practical (RB) for any subject(s).

Requirements for Compartment Candidates

Students classified under the Repeat Practical (RP) category are only required to attend the practical examination during the supplementary windows. The theory marks previously awarded in their subjects remain valid and do not necessitate a reappearance in the theory examinations.

Conversely, students who fall under the Repeat Theory and Practical Both (RB) category are obliged to participate in both the theory and practical examinations during the supplementary period. This dual requirement underscores the board’s commitment to ensuring that all necessary assessments are completed for each subject.

For students, clear guidance is provided, enabling them to understand their obligations concerning theory and practical assessments. This stratification aims to facilitate a smoother examination experience, allowing students to effectively focus on their weaknesses while also building on their already established knowledge.

Logistics and Examination Centres

The practical examinations for regular students will occur within their respective schools, ensuring a familiar setting for the candidates. In contrast, for private candidates, the practical exams will be conducted at designated examination centres that correspond with their theory paper locations. This arrangement is intended to provide equitable access to facilities for all candidates concerned.

In situations where a school or examination centre lacks adequate facilities to conduct practical examinations for specific subjects, the concerned CBSE Regional Office will take necessary actions to arrange alternate venues at nearby schools or centres. This adaptability aims at ensuring that all students have the opportunity to complete their practical assessments without obstruction.

In addition to logistical guidelines, schools are required to upload the marks attained during the practical examinations onto the designated portal on the same day. Such timely updates will ensure that the evaluation process remains transparent and efficient.

Finality of Marks and Administrative Directives

CBSE has unequivocally stated that once the practical marks are uploaded to the system, they will be considered final. After the submission, the board will not entertain any requests for changes or re-evaluations of the marks awarded. This directive underscores the importance of accuracy during assessment, as well as the necessity for schools to promptly adhere to this instruction.

In alignment with these developments, schools are advised to ensure thorough preparation for administering both the practical and theory components of the supplementary exams. The board’s strict adherence to procedural integrity aims at upholding a quality educational standard throughout the assessment period.

This timely release of guidelines serves as a crucial resource for students and educational institutions, enabling them to better prepare for the upcoming supplementary practical examinations. The information underscores CBSE’s ongoing commitment to ensure students receive a fair chance in their academic pursuits.
