The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the results of the Class 10 second board examination for 2026 on July 18. Students can retrieve their digital mark sheets through the DigiLocker platform, accessible at results.digilocker.gov.in. The process for obtaining physical copies varies for regular and private candidates.

For regular students, which includes those studying overseas, printed Mark Sheet-cum-Passing Certificates will be distributed through their respective schools. This ensures that students receive their official documents in a timely and organised manner.

On the other hand, private candidates will receive their digital academic documents via DigiLocker. The printed versions of these documents will be sent to the addresses they have registered. However, private candidates affiliated with the Delhi East and Delhi West Regional Offices have the option to collect their printed documents directly from the examination centres where they sat for their exams.

New Examination Structure Introduced

The introduction of the two-board examination system for Class 10 was implemented following the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommendations. This new approach commenced with the 2026 academic year, providing students with more opportunities to demonstrate their academic capabilities.

The primary board examination took place from February 17 to March 11, 2026, while the secondary board examination was conducted from May 15 to May 21, 2026. This structure aims to enhance learning outcomes by allowing students to engage with the exam format twice within the academic year.

The second board examination serves as an additional opportunity for students who wish to improve their scores from the main exams. When calculating final results for regular students, the CBSE will consider the higher score achieved in either of the two examinations, thereby supporting student performance and learning enhancement.

Student Participation and Performance Statistics

In total, 6,64,027 candidates registered for the second board examination, with 6,63,777 actually appearing for the test. This figure reflects a high level of engagement among students participating in the supplementary examination.

Among those who took the second examination, 5,13,955 students aimed to enhance their previous scores. Following the results, it was reported that 3,08,095 students, constituting 59.95 per cent of the candidates, were able to improve their performance compared to their scores in the initial examinations. This statistic highlights the effectiveness of the new examination structure in providing students with an additional chance for academic advancement.

The CBSE aims to continuously evolve its examination processes to better support student learning and achievement. The recent results illustrate the board’s commitment to facilitating student success through comprehensive assessment strategies in an increasingly competitive academic landscape.
