BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has launched a strong critique of both the BJP-led central government and the Congress-led Telangana state government. He accused them of stifling the voices of students and youth, asserting that while the Centre suppresses dissent, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is allegedly diverting attention from the Centre’s shortcomings. This remarks were made during a large assembly of students and youth at Indira Park, where KTR highlighted their growing discontent with the handling of issues such as the NEET paper leak and the purported crackdown on student demonstrations.

According to the BRS Press Release Organisation (PRO), KTR emphasised that attempts to silence India’s youth through force would be futile. He argued that each instance of democratic dissent being quashed would only fortify the voices of the protesters. KTR’s remarks come in the wake of rising tensions regarding examination irregularities, particularly focusing on the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who he believes should resign over the repeated lapses in examinations.

KTR urged the Union Government to initiate a constructive dialogue with protesting students rather than resorting to oppression. In his view, the BJP administration has forsaken the hopes of millions of students and the unemployed youth, failing to take responsibility for continued examination irregularities that plague the education system.

Telangana Chief Minister Accused of Political Gains

In a scathing criticism of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR claimed that the Telangana Chief Minister has not been active in leading a united front against the central government’s policies impacting students nationwide. Instead, KTR alleged that Reddy is employing the situation to undermine the BRS for political advantage. This assertion highlights a fractious political environment, where the collaboration needed to challenge central policies is seemingly lacking.

KTR accused Revanth Reddy of displaying inconsistencies by avoiding direct confrontation with the BJP while simultaneously launching attacks on opposition parties. He stated that this approach only serves to divert attention away from the pressing issues that the youth are currently facing. The Telangana populace, according to KTR, expects their government to prioritise the needs and aspirations of students rather than shielding the Centre.

KTR’s remarks underscore a belief that both the central and state governments have failed in their duties towards the younger generation. He contended that the former suppresses their voices while the latter does not challenge this suppression effectively.
