Air India Express Resumes Flights To Qatar, Bahrain After Hiatus

The CSR Journal Magazine

Air India Express has announced the reinstatement of its services to Qatar and Bahrain, with the operations officially resuming on April 30, 2026. As India’s first international low-cost airline, the company aims to strengthen travel links between India and these Gulf nations. The airline operates flights from several major Indian cities, ensuring convenient access for travellers seeking connectivity to this region.

Expanded Flight Network Across the Gulf Region

In addition to Qatar and Bahrain, Air India Express has expanded its offerings to include more flights to the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. Travellers can now find services departing from well-connected Indian metropolitan and regional gateways such as Amritsar, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Kochi, among others. This increase in flights is designed to cater to the rising demand for air travel to and from the Gulf region.

The airline continues to operate established routes serving destinations like Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Jeddah, Riyadh, and Muscat. The reintroduction of these routes signifies a strategic effort to enhance air travel connectivity between India and various key locations in the Gulf.

India’s aviation market has seen a robust recovery post-pandemic, making this expansion a timely move. The initiative reflects Air India Express’s commitment to providing affordable and accessible travel options to its passengers.

Collaboration Among Indian Airlines at Hamad International Airport

In a coordinated effort, leading Indian airlines, including Air India and IndiGo, are also set to resume operations at Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha. This announcement comes as flight services continue to expand in response to the evolving aviation landscape. The reinstatement is scheduled for May 1, 2026, signalling a significant step towards revitalising international travel between India and Qatar.

The Embassy of India in Doha, Qatar, has confirmed these developments through a post on X, indicating that the resumption of flight operations is not merely a solitary effort but part of a broader collaboration with international aviation authorities. This move aims to reconnect Doha with various significant Indian cities, facilitating easier travel for passengers.

The resumption of services comes following a two-month hiatus triggered by Operation Epic Fury, a military campaign that had significant implications for regional stability. The airlines involved are poised to play a crucial role in restoring normalcy to air travel in the region, reaffirming their importance in international aviation.

Commitment to Quality Service and Passenger Experience

Air India Express prides itself on its extensive operations, which consist of over 500 daily flights linking 45 domestic and 17 international destinations across South, Southeast, and West Asia. The airline operates a fleet comprising over 100 Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft, underscoring its capacity to serve a wide customer base.

The airline emphasises a high-quality travel experience, offering a range of amenities designed to enhance passenger comfort. Features such as ‘Gourmair’ hot meals, comfortable seating, and refreshed interiors are part of the service ethos aimed at making every flight memorable. Additionally, loyal customers benefit from exclusive rewards as the airline seeks to maintain a strong bond with its frequent flyers.

By merging modern technology with traditional Indian hospitality, Air India Express continues to cater to the diverse needs of travellers, ensuring that flying with them is both enjoyable and welcoming. The reinstatement of services signals a broader recovery within the aviation sector, showcasing the resilience and adaptability of India’s airline industry amidst global challenges.
