The CSR Journal Magazine

A 15-year-old girl has reportedly given birth to a baby in Jalandhar, Punjab, after months of alleged sexual assault by a boy in Amritsar. The local police confirmed the situation on Thursday, April 20, 2026. The young girl, a student in Class 9, had been residing with her aunt in Jalandhar for approximately seven months when the allegations first came to light.

The girl’s aunt reported the incident to authorities, claiming the abuse occurred when the victim was still in Amritsar. The concerned aunt expressed her distress over the situation, prompting her to approach law enforcement once the nature of her niece’s condition became apparent.

Medical Concerns Raised

Around six weeks prior to the birth, the girl allegedly began complaining of stomach pain, leading her aunt to seek medical advice from a private doctor located in Nurmahal, a town situated in Jalandhar. After an initial consultation, the doctor prescribed medication for her symptoms. However, on April 19, the girl experienced intense abdominal pain, which warranted a visit to a private hospital in Phillaur, Jalandhar.

It was at this facility that medical staff conducted further examinations, revealing the teenager’s pregnancy. Following this discovery, she was transferred to another hospital where she subsequently gave birth. This series of events raised significant alarms about the young girl’s wellbeing and the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy.

Upon learning of her niece’s condition, the aunt questioned her about the situation, which led the girl to disclose that she had been raped by a boy from her neighbourhood in Amritsar. This revelation added gravity to the allegations and added a sense of urgency to the case that had initially arisen from medical concerns.

Legal Actions Taken

In response to the allegations, a zero FIR was registered at a police station within the jurisdiction of Jalandhar Rural Police. A zero FIR is a unique type of report that allows victims to file complaints regardless of the location where the crime occurred, ensuring that cases are appropriately addressed. The police confirmed the registration of the FIR on April 20.

Authorities stated that the accused, a 16-year-old boy, has been charged under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Law enforcement officials have committed to investigating the matter thoroughly, as the case raises serious concerns about the safety and protection of minors within the region.

As the investigation progresses, police are expected to gather evidence and statements from witnesses to strengthen the case. The legal proceedings against the accused are anticipated to unfold in accordance with the established judicial process while ensuring that the rights and welfare of the victim are prioritised throughout the investigation.
