On World Heart Day 2022, The CSR Journal talks to renowned cardiologist Dr Debdatta Bhattacharyya from Kolkata about a disturbing trend of youngsters increasingly falling prey to cardiac problems, sometimes even leading to their death. Dr Bhattacharya, who is associated as a Senior Cardiologist with Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences (a unit of Narayana Health) in Kolkata highlights the most common causes of a heart attack. These include sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical activities and sports, childhood obesity, altered dietary habits like the tendency to eat fast food especially among youngsters, increased trend of smoking among youngsters, early onset of hypertension among youngsters even in teenage and diabetes.
