Weather Outlook for Delhi and Northeast India This Sunday

The CSR Journal Magazine

This Sunday, the weather in Delhi is expected to provide a stark contrast to the recent rainfall experienced on Friday night. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts mainly clear to partly cloudy skies, with maximum temperatures anticipated to rise between 39 and 41 degrees Celsius. This is notably above the seasonal average for this period.

Minimum temperatures will remain stable, ranging from 22 to 24 degrees Celsius. Winds are expected to be light, predominantly blowing from the northwest at a speed of approximately 10 to 15 kilometres per hour. Although a brief respite was granted by the recent thunderstorm, residents can anticipate significantly hotter conditions on Sunday.

While no precipitation is forecasted, the IMD has issued a warning regarding potential health risks associated with high temperatures. Vulnerable populations, including the elderly, young children, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions, are advised to take precautions such as staying indoors during peak hours and ensuring adequate hydration.

Northeast India Weather Prediction

In contrast to Delhi, the Northeast region is bracing for significant rainfall this Sunday. The IMD forecasts that Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30 to 50 kilometres per hour.

In some areas, especially in Arunachal Pradesh, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated. The IMD has advised residents of flood-prone and landslide-vulnerable regions to remain vigilant due to the expected severe weather conditions. Isolated heavy showers may also occur in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, contributing to the overall rainfall in the Northeast.

This extreme weather is a characteristic feature of the transitional season, and residents are encouraged to stay alert as the situation unfolds over the coming days. The IMD’s warnings highlight the need for preparedness in view of potential disruption caused by the weather.

Overall Heat Conditions in India

Across India, the weather on Sunday will predominantly be hot and largely dry, with the exception of the aforementioned regions. Formal heat wave conditions, where temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius, are anticipated in isolated areas of East Rajasthan, Odisha, and East Uttar Pradesh. Much of central and southern India will report high temperatures, ranging between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius.

The situation is projected to worsen, with temperatures expected to increase by an additional two to three degrees Celsius in East India and by three to five degrees Celsius in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi over the next few days. The persistence of heat wave conditions in certain regions of Rajasthan is anticipated to extend until April 22.

As the transitional weather pattern unfolds, individuals across the impacted areas should prepare for the challenges posed by the rising temperatures as well as any adverse weather conditions. Continued monitoring of the weather forecasts will be essential for public safety and health.
