The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet has sanctioned proposals totalling approximately Rs 47,990 crore aimed at fostering comprehensive development across the state. This decision was made during a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on August 11, 2026. A significant allocation of Rs 44,515.13 crore is targeted at sustaining various health initiatives between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2031.

Among the financial distributions, Rs 28,083.47 crore will be directed towards the National Health Mission, with an additional Rs 12,123.81 crore earmarked for the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, designed to aid individuals who do not fall under the socio-economic caste census parameters. Furthermore, Rs 1,159.58 crore will be utilised for security and sanitation provisions at health facilities, alongside Rs 654.84 crore for district-level staff schemes.

Additionally, the Cabinet has given the green light for Rs 1,757.55 crore to develop the 44.83-kilometre Bhopal-Vidisha four-lane road, which will include paved shoulders. This infrastructure is part of the government’s comprehensive plan to enhance Bhopal’s positioning as a metropolitan centre, contributing to improved safety for pedestrians and slower vehicles.

Support for Forest Management and Research Initiatives

In another vital decision, the Cabinet sanctioned Rs 918 crore to extend the scheme designed for the distribution of dividends to Joint Forest Management Committees for the period from 2026-27 through 2030-31. This plan will distribute dividends not only to the committees but also to residents of areas linked with these committees, thereby fostering community engagement in forest management.

Moreover, the Council of Ministers approved the allocation of 20 hectares of land on a permanent lease in Bhaukhedi village, located in Ichhawar tehsil of Sehore district. This land will be utilised for the establishment of the National Soybean Research Institute, affiliated with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. This decision aims to enhance research and development initiatives pertinent to soybean cultivation, thereby boosting agricultural productivity in the region.

To further promote women’s empowerment, the Cabinet introduced an annual Rani Durgavati State-Level Award of Rs 2 lakh. This award is designated for women engaged in social service who have successfully navigated difficult circumstances. The Cabinet also approved an increase in the Rani Avanti Bai State-Level Bravery Award from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh, originally instituted in 2006, recognising acts of bravery among women.

Education and Maintenance Funding Approvals

The Cabinet has additionally allocated Rs 795.59 crore for the ongoing operations of Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University for the next five financial years, commencing from 2026-27 until 2030-31. The university is currently home to 11 colleges and eight research centres, focused on advancing agricultural education, research, and extension services.

Lastly, Rs 2.50 crore has been affirmed for the maintenance of properties under the Mineral Resources Department for a similar timeline from 2026-27 to 2030-31. This financial provision is aimed at ensuring the upkeep of departmental facilities, facilitating ongoing operations within the sector.
