According to reports, the latest proposal suggests that both countries could first agree to pause their military engagements and reduce tensions in the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. Subsequently, a 30-day period of discussions could follow to work towards a more comprehensive arrangement. A senior official from Pakistan, involved in mediation efforts, articulated that the top priority is achieving a concrete end to the fighting before engaging in discussions on remaining contentious topics.

Foreign ministers from the US and Iran are reported to be in contact regarding these negotiations, and officials in Islamabad have indicated positive progress. Pakistan’s foreign ministry spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, expressed hope for a swift agreement, stating, “A simple answer would be that we expect an agreement sooner rather than later.”
