A teacher employed at a private institution in Ahmedabad has been suspended after allegedly slapping a Class 10 student, resulting in a ruptured eardrum that might necessitate surgical intervention. Officials report that the incident occurred during a physical training session at Chanakya School, located in the Nikol area of the city.

The student, enrolled in the Gujarati-medium section of Class 10, was reportedly engaged in conversation with friends on the school’s premises when the incident took place. It has been stated that an English-medium teacher, identified as Laxman, approached the group and allegedly struck the student across the face without any apparent reason.

Medical Examination and Consequences

The father of the student took immediate action by seeking medical attention. An examination revealed a ruptured eardrum in the left ear, with doctors indicating that surgical intervention might be necessary should the swelling persist in the following week.

School and Education Authorities Respond

The Ahmedabad District Education Officer, Rohit Chaudhary, stated that an inquiry was launched immediately upon the incident being reported. He confirmed that initial information indicates the teacher struck the student while he was on the playground with other children.
