In a major crackdown on document forgery, the Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police has successfully dismantled an organized inter-state syndicate involved in fabricating fake government documents and identity proofs for fraudulent purposes.

Key Accused Arrested from Birbhum

Two prime accused — Sk Miraj Hossain (21) and Abdul Kuddus alias Munna (30) — were arrested during a targeted operation conducted in Birbhum district. Both are believed to be central figures in the racket, which allegedly produced forged official documents to facilitate illegal activities.

Seizure of Forged Documents and Digital Tools

During the raid, STF officials recovered a significant quantity of forged documents and various digital tools used in the creation of fake IDs and certificates. The scale and sophistication of the operation suggest a wider network operating across multiple states.

Case Registered Under Multiple Acts

Following the arrests, a formal case has been registered at the Special Task Force (Headquarters) Police Station on July 14 under several relevant laws, including:

•The Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita,

•The Information Technology Act,

•The Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, and

•The Foreigners Act.

Authorities are now investigating the full extent of the network and whether the forged documents were used to facilitate illegal immigration or financial fraud. More arrests and raids are expected in the coming days.
