“Enough is Enough”: RJD Spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari Resigns, Calls for Introspection from Tejashwi Yadav

The CSR Journal Magazine

Mrityunjay Tiwari, spokesperson for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has announced his resignation from all party positions, stating that “enough is enough.” Tiwari cited feelings of humiliation from certain sections of the party leadership as a key reason for his departure. He made these statements during an interaction with ANI on July 16, following his decision.

In his resignation announcement, Tiwari reflected on his two-decade-long commitment to the RJD, expressing disappointment due to recent experiences of humiliation. He remarked on his initial responsibilities assigned by National President Lalu Prasad Yadav in 2014, during a critical time when the party was rebuilding its presence.

Having witnessed the party grow from approximately ten MLAs to around eighty MLAs, Tiwari claimed that his loyalty and service had not been reciprocated. He expressed a strong belief that maintaining his dignity was more important than enduring continuous disrespect within the party.

Tiwari Criticises Leadership’s Inaction to Grievances

Tiwari alleged that despite voicing his concerns to senior leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav, no effective actions were taken to address the issues he faced. He described that assurances received from various senior members did not translate into meaningful change.

Specifically, he noted that attempts to communicate the gravity of the situation to Tejashwi Yadav were ignored. Tiwari claimed that some individuals within the party had gained so much influence that even Yadav’s authority seemed diminished in front of them.

Furthermore, Tiwari urged Yadav to reflect on the current condition of the party, stressing the importance of examining its internal structure and the treatment of its workers. He mentioned that respect for party members was crucial for effective political leadership.

Future Political Plans Remain Uncertain for Tiwari

After his resignation, Tiwari released a self-recorded video to confirm that he had informed both RJD state president Mangni Lal Mandal and other senior leaders about his decision. He expressed that, while he had always been treated well by Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, the prevailing atmosphere in the party left him with no alternative but to resign.

When questioned about his future political affiliations, Tiwari refrained from making any commitments regarding joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He indicated that he would first consult with his supporters before deciding on any next steps.

Tiwari’s reflections included an emphasis on the respect he felt was missing within the party. He articulated that it was vital to have a respectful environment for party leaders and workers alike. He stated that respect is fundamental to one’s political journey and questioned the rationale behind remaining in an organisation where humiliation prevails.
