Ram Raksha Andolan: Uddhav Thackeray to Lead Protests in Mumbai Over Ram Mandir Donation Scam

The CSR Journal Magazine

Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), is set to spearhead a protest titled “Ram Raksha Andolan” in Mumbai on Sunday, July 9. This movement addresses allegations concerning misappropriation of funds donated for the Ram Mandir. Sanjay Raut, a Member of Parliament from the party, confirmed the plans during a press conference, emphasising that the protest will start at the Hanuman temple in Dadar.

Raut remarked that the agitation would not remain confined to Mumbai but would extend throughout Maharashtra. He encouraged supporters to join the movement, indicating the potential for it to reach areas beyond the state as well. The initial gathering is scheduled to occur at 4 pm, and those attending are urged to uphold principles connected to Hindutva.

Allegations of Embezzlement

During the press conference, Raut voiced serious concerns regarding what he described as irregularities involving the donations for the Ram Mandir. Allegations were made regarding theft of offerings made by devotees, including high-value items that were reportedly taken from the temple premises. Raut stated that there have been claims of missing ornaments belonging to Lord Ram and Mother Sita, as well as significant religious artefacts.

Raut specifically mentioned items such as a gold mangalsutra offered to Mother Sita, as well as various valuable ornaments. His statements pointed towards a narrative of betrayal among political stakeholders, insinuating that members associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party are involved in the alleged misappropriations. Expressing his distrust, Raut referred to these individuals as “BJP’s Mohammed Ghaznavi,” highlighting his view of them as adversaries to the Hindu community.

He reiterated the urgency of revealing the truth regarding these allegations. The party’s leadership aims to organise further gatherings in multiple locations, focusing particularly on the temples dedicated to Lord Ram and Hanuman across the state.

Thackeray’s Statements on the Situation

Uddhav Thackeray has expressed his concerns about the appropriateness of the BJP’s actions regarding the alleged donation embezzlement. During a separate press conference prior to the protest announcement, he questioned whether the BJP is engaging in an “Operation Ram Mandir.” Thackeray drew parallels between reported political manoeuvres, such as the defection of MPs and MLAs, and the alleged misuse of temple donations.

He raised questions about the integrity of the BJP’s handling of funds, suggesting that some of the money reportedly stolen from the temple might be used to influence political landscapes. Both Raut and Thackeray underscored the necessity for accountability, advocating that those implicated in the alleged theft should be brought to justice.

Thackeray articulated a strong sentiment among his supporters, asserting that Hindus would no longer allow temple donations to be exploited. He quoted former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, asserting that Hindus would not remain victims or complacent in the face of such grievances. This sentiment is expected to resonate with participants in the upcoming protests as they rally for transparency and accountability from political leaders.
