Nothing Teases New Smartphone While Confirming No CMF 3 Pro Launch

The CSR Journal Magazine

Nothing Technology, the parent company of the spin-off brand CMF, is generating excitement in the smartphone market with hints of a new device. However, the company has clarified that it will not be launching a CMF Phone 3 Pro. This announcement follows the success of the CMF Phone 2 Pro, which was well-received for its innovative features at a competitive price point under Rs 20,000.

Akis Evangelidis, co-founder of Nothing, made this information public on the social media platform X. He stated that the company had been working on a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro but decided to halt the project due to rising memory prices, which could hinder the production of an adequately advanced device at a reasonable cost for consumers.

Evangelidis expressed that the decision was based on a commitment to delivering value and quality. He emphasised that the launch of a successor phone would not meet the company’s standards or customer expectations under the current market conditions.

Hints at New Device in Development

Despite the cancellation of a new CMF phone, Nothing has indicated that it is still working on a new smartphone. Evangelidis reassured fans that the launch season for Nothing isn’t over yet, suggesting that more announcements are imminent. Thus far in 2026, the company has successfully introduced two models: the Phone 4a and the Phone 4a Pro.

Additionally, there are speculations regarding a forthcoming device in the Series b lineup. Although Nothing has not confirmed whether this refers to a new Phone 4b, the teaser implies intriguing developments are on the horizon. The company has also recently unveiled images of two Pokémon characters, Jumpluff and Blastoise, which are often used as codenames for their upcoming products.

The potential reference to Blastoise as the name of the next smartphone indicates a strategic continuation of this unique marketing approach, linking product announcements to pop culture themes that resonate with their audience. Users speculate that Jumpluff might be the anticipated successor to the current Ear a model.

Rumoured Features of Upcoming Models

There have been prior leaks concerning the specifications of the CMF Phone 3 Pro, which had suggested significant upgrades, including a new metal frame and a reimagined camera module. Reports pointed towards a possible integration of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset and a large 5,500mAh battery, enhancing performance and longevity for users.

Although this device was originally expected to carry the CMF branding, it may now be reintroduced under the Nothing label. The transition seems to align with the company’s overall strategy to consolidate its offerings under a single, recognisable brand.

Industry insiders have indicated that the rumoured device could see a launch in the Indian market as early as next month. This timeline aligns with Nothing’s historically energetic pace of announcements and product launches, which have kept the brand at the forefront of consumer interest in an increasingly competitive industry.
