The CSR Journal Magazine

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has ramped up its efforts to combat unauthorised constructions and illegal encroachments in the national capital. As of June 7, 2026, a total of 95 demolition actions have been carried out, alongside the sealing of 124 properties, according to official data released. This crackdown is part of a sustained effort to enforce compliance with building regulations and protect public safety.

Interactive Measure to Ensure Compliance

On June 6, 2026, prior to the latest report, the MCD had already executed 94 demolitions, sealing 114 properties in its attempt to dismantle illegal structures. Civic authorities have issued a range of statutory notices with 84 Show Cause Notices for Unauthorised Construction (UC) and 41 Sealing Show Cause Notices already served to property owners. In addition, 33 formal Demolition Orders have been issued, highlighting the ongoing commitment to regulating construction activity.

With today’s operations, authorities executed one major demolition in Khanpur and sealed an additional ten illegal properties to curb further unlawful usage. These initiatives reflect the government’s approach to ensure that the public’s safety is prioritised above all.

Government Officials Support Swift Action

Delhi Jal Board’s Vice Chairman and Malviya Nagar MLA, Satish Upadhyay, expressed strong support for the administration’s actions, emphasising the importance of adhering to building regulations. He stated, “The CM of Delhi is always working towards securing the future of the city and its residents.” He warned that violations of the G+5 or 17m rule for building constructions could put lives in jeopardy and urged residents to comply with legal frameworks to ensure safety.

In territories like Khanpur and Sainik Farms, today’s actions demonstrate the government’s ongoing commitment to protecting the residents of Delhi. The urgency of these demolitions showcases the MCD’s responsiveness to the pressing need for safety amidst growing concerns over illegal constructions.

Community’s Voice Acknowledged in Demolition Actions

Additionally, BJP Municipal Councillor Mamta Yadav commented on the demolition in Krishna Park, asserting the actions were a direct reaction to community concerns. The intervention was described as a preventive measure aimed at averting potential disasters. Yadav stated that the demolitions were essential for the public good, especially since local residents had raised alarms regarding a particular building.

Through these initiatives, the MCD is striving to balance urban development with public safety. The significant efforts undertaken signify a dedication to address illegal constructions that have reportedly become a pressing issue in several localities.

The ongoing drive, fuelled by public complaints and oversight, is likely to dissuade further encroachments and promote adherence to building laws, ensuring that the future growth of Delhi remains both structured and secure.
