Though a delayed onset by a few days does not inherently predict disaster for the season, broader concerns linger regarding the total seasonal rainfall. The IMD had previously indicated that rainfall for the entire monsoon season in 2026 is anticipated to be below normal, influenced by the projected El Niño phenomenon later this year. This factor raises questions about the overall water supply as the season unfolds.
