The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the results for the CA Foundation examination held in May 2026, revealing that Maharashtra has claimed all top three positions on the merit list. Sakshi Jain from Nashik secured the All India Rank 1 with an impressive score of 371 out of 400, representing a remarkable percentage of 92.75%.

Radha Unmesh Mulay from Pune rounded out the top three, earning the third rank with 365 marks, which is 91.25%. This year’s results highlight the fierce competition among candidates for one of India’s most sought-after professional examinations.

Overall Performance and Pass Percentage

The results from the CA Foundation examination illustrate the challenging nature of this assessment. A total of 90,217 candidates took the exam, with only 18,124 successfully passing, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 20.09%. This figure reflects the difficult standards set by the ICAI for the examination.

Within the male cohort, 46,798 candidates participated, from which 9,769 qualified, yielding a pass percentage of 20.88%. In contrast, among the female candidates, 43,419 appeared and 8,355 passed, leading to a pass percentage of 19.24%. These statistics indicate the highly competitive environment surrounding the CA Foundation examination, as candidates strive to secure their future in the accounting profession.

The examination was held across 609 centres, allowing a wide reach for aspiring candidates nationwide. The results are a reflection of both personal effort and resilience, despite the intense challenges associated with the exam.

Path Forward for Successful Candidates

The CA Foundation examination serves as an essential step toward obtaining one of India’s most respected professional qualifications. Candidates who have successfully passed can now advance to the CA Intermediate level, an important phase in their journey to becoming Chartered Accountants.

ICAI congratulated the successful candidates, emphasizing that these results signify the starting point of a demanding yet potentially rewarding professional journey for thousands across the nation. As candidates prepare for the next level of their qualifications, the added pressure of expectations and standards will likely continue to shape the competitive landscape of this profession.

The pursuit of a Chartered Accountant designation remains highly regarded in India, with many aspiring students dedicating extensive time and resources to achieve their goals. The results of the 2026 examination further attest to the dedication evident within candidates from Maharashtra, reinforcing the state’s prominent role in the professional accounting domain.
